Early Literacy Support

Early literacy sessions help young readers build a strong foundation in the basics: recognizing letters, connecting sounds to symbols, and playing with language in ways that make reading feel exciting, not intimidating.

Decoding & Phonics Instruction

Decoding doesn’t have to be frustrating. I use structured, step-by-step phonics instruction to teach kids how to break words apart, recognize patterns, and tackle new words on their own — building skills that stick and grow with them.

Fluency Development

Reading smoothly and with expression takes practice and encouragement. Through guided, repeated reading and fun fluency activities, we help kids read aloud with confidence, better understand what they read, and enjoy the process along the way.

Comprehension Skills

Understanding a story goes beyond reading the words. We teach students how to think about what they read, ask questions, make predictions, and share ideas — so they become active readers who truly get the meaning behind the text.

Vocabulary Building

A strong vocabulary opens doors to better reading and clearer communication. We grow word knowledge through engaging lessons that explore word meanings, word parts, and context clues, helping students use new words naturally in reading and writing.

Dyslexia Intervention

For children with dyslexia, I use structured, multi-sensory, research-based methods tailored to how their brains learn best. My goal is to build decoding skills step by step, strengthen reading fluency, and boost confidence in a supportive, patient environment.

Support for Older Students

It’s never too late to become a stronger reader. I help upper elementary and middle school students close skill gaps, rebuild their confidence, and develop strategies to tackle more complex texts so they can keep up in every subject.

Homework & Executive Functioning

Assignments don’t have to be a daily battle. I work alongside students to complete homework, break down projects into manageable steps, and practice skills in the context of their real schoolwork.

Assessments

Every student starts with an assessment so I can understand exactly where they are and what they need. My informal and formal reading assessments help us build a personalized tutoring plan that targets your child’s unique strengths and areas for growth.

Consulting

As a reading specialist, I offer consulting services to elementary school districts to help strengthen literacy programs and improve student outcomes. My support includes guiding teachers and administrators in implementing evidence-based reading instruction, developing effective intervention plans, and providing targeted professional development. By staying current with the latest research and best practices, I work collaboratively with schools to build staff capacity, address the needs of struggling readers, and create a supportive environment where all students can become confident, capable readers.
